Stockton Short La Roca ECNL GK 6'3 record holder for Utah

About

Stockton Short is one of the top 2022 Goalkeepers in his region. He is an every-game starter at GK who has played for both La Roca and Avalanche ECNL teams. He is 6’3, dominates the air and hangs on to the ball cleanly. He has solid technical skills, distribution and positioning with great hands. Stockton literally holds the Utah State records in goal, with lowest goals against average, shutouts with 16 shutouts in 19 games, and fewest goals allowed in a season only allowing 3 on the year playing full minutes each game. His team won the 6A state championship title two of his three years in high school, so in 2019 and again this year in 2021. He was awarded the team MVP award, had .15 GAA per game, logged 67 saves on the year and had a 95.7 Save percentage, all highs for first team All-Conference and State. He was selected as the States GK of the year this year.

Stockton makes good decisions in goal as far as when to come out, when to leave his line to win a ball in the air, and what to do with the ball once he wins possession. He has a big booming punt that can go 20 yards past the half, and goal kicks 10-15 yards past midfield accurately to his targets. He receives regular weekly keeper training and has sound technical skills. He is a good communicator directing his back line especially on set pieces or plays in or around the final third.

When he played for Avalanche ECNL 04 team, they were State Cup champs in the 2020/ 2021 season. Stockton is also a team starter for the ODP State team, and got RSL and Tijuana Academy invites. Academically he has a 3.98 GPA, and scored a 25 on his ACT on his first attempt. His team qualified for regionals that took place in Boise this summer and went undefeated in group play with two wins and a 0-0 tie. Before falling in the playoff rounds. He recently switched to La Roca’s ECNL team this fall for his senior year of competition.
