About
Mackenzie Kelso is the starting keeper for the Real Colorado Athletico ECNL 05 team. She’s a 2023 grad, 5’7 and team captain. She’s been selected to three West Region ODP Region camps and made the top 18 for her age group. Mac has also been invited to several US Soccer Training Center events. She’s a good vocal communicator and directs her team in the defensive third throughout the game.
Mac is good in the air, winning balls in a crowd, catching it cleanly with her hands and making a big save to parry it over the top or wide on dangerous shots. She is very athletic and has good range. She moves her feet well in the goal and shuffles to read the shot and get into position before a well timed power dive. She is fearless off her line coming out for 1 vs 1’s and not afraid to go down and win the ball. She is also strong with foot saves when called for. Her punts typically go 5-10 yards past the half and up to 20 yards past when she really gets a hold of it. She has good goal kicks and is skilled when the ball is played back to her to keep the ball in play and connect downfield to targets.
Mac has been with Real Colorado ECNL for three years and prior to that she lived in Oregon and was a member of the Portland Thorns DA team. Mac has opted to do year round club ball instead of HS to get better training and refine her skills. She has a 3.9 GPA
