Lece Aviles has been a starting defender for NCAA Division 1 New Mexico State University the past three years. She was instrumental in helping her team make the playoffs having some big upset wins the past few years while earning second team WAC All-Conference honors. Lece played in 11 games as a true freshmen with zero starts, coming off the bench to contribute. Then was an every game starter the last three years leading the team in minutes played most years. She has been a starter at outside back, and then was transitioned to Center back the last few years.

Alycea is a good vocal leader who plays with her heart on her sleeve. She’s not afraid to sacrifice her body for a tackle, to go up in a crowd and win a header or to compete until the whistle blows at the end of the game no matter what the score. I have coached Lece in camps since she was an 8th grader and into high school and have followed her career. I’m proud of the work and commitment level she has put into perfecting her skills and being a role model and leader for her team. She has proven herself to be a valuable teammate, contributor and member of her team. She currently has a 3.67 GPA at NMSU and will graduate this May. She will have one year of eligibility remaining and wants to complete her degree in Early Childhood learning or similar for a masters degree.
