About
Lauren is a very athletic center mid that covers a ton of ground, dominates the air, who can cover sideline to sideline and can dribble, create and score. I love the way Lauren Hernandez plays center mid. She’s dynamic with the ball, always on the move, and can control the whole center of the pitch. She hustles and is strong on both sides transitioning quickly into the attack, and hustling back to win balls in the middle and break things up. She keeps her feet moving after passes and makes runs to do combination play continually. Lauren is very strong in the air and scores regularly off headers. She can create off the dribble using moves to score and can finish with both feet with power. She’s what I look for in my center mids: fit, fast, good in the air, a distributor who plays both sides of the ball and has an engine that never stops.
Lauren plays attacking and defensive center mid, occasionally playing out on the flanks as well to use her speed and go at players 1 vs 1 on the wing. She’s a starter and playmaker for her SC Wave GA 04 team ranked 7th in the country. Just prior to joining the GA league her team won the USYS Club National Championship in 2019. Lauren was also a first team All-Conference midfielder that year in HS as a freshmen prior to covid cancelling the 2020 season.
Currently her team is ranked on Gotsoccer #1 in WIsconsin, #1 in the region, and #7 in the nation right now with a 17-2-3 record as of a few weeks ago. I watched her play at the Florida showcase this month and was impressed by her work rate darting around the field, breaking up passes, stealing the ball, and creating on the other end too. She’s a smart player, she doesn’t just chase chase chase, she reads the game well and is composed. Her team recently advanced in the GA playoffs to the second round before falling.
Her GPA is a 4.12 weighted GPA, and 3.94 unweighted. Her SAT score was a 1290, 27 ACT equivalent.
