Danielle Fotopoulos one of the most notable names in United States soccer history, will be joining the College Sports Prep Staff as a recruiter and mentor. She holds the all-time NCAA Division 1 record for goals and points, and was a member of the University of Florida team that won the 1998 NCAA women’s soccer national championship. She also played for the USWNT that won the 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup. She would go on to serve as a scout for the U-14 US Youth National ID Staff and later served as the head coach for the United States U-15 National team.
With legendary status at the University of Florida, Danielle Garrett, was a two-time SEC Player of the Year for the Gators and was the Soccer America Player of the Year in 1998 after leading Florida to an NCAA championship. She continued her career with U.S. women’s soccer and was a member of the 1999 FIFA World Cup championship squad. She then continued playing in the pro’s for the WUSA league and was a two-time all-star selection.
Fotopoulos began her college coaching career in 2003, serving as co-head coach at Louisiana State University. After spending two seasons in Baton Rouge, she later became an assistant coach at her alma mater with the Gators in 2006. Fotopoulos was inducted into UF’s Hall of Fame in 2008 and into the FHSAA Hall of Fame in 2014. She graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s Degree in 1999, and her Masters Degree from USF in PE in 2016. She went on to coach for nearly a dozen years at Eckerd University turning the program around and racking up the most career coaching wins in school history.
She and her husband, George, reside in Land O’Lakes and have four children: Alexia, Will, Michael and Demetri. We feel fortunate to have Danielle joining our College Sports Prep recruiting team and mentoring aspiring collegiate athletes. She’ll be focusing most of her time on new clients and may attend some events in the Southeast.
