Drake Okumura is a talented midfielder and defender from Albion’s MLS Next Academy team in California where he is a regular starter for them at defensive center mid, or outside back. Drake is fast and athletic with great touch and ball control. He excels at reading the game and locking down the midfield defensively. He has great vision for passing and dishing the ball out to teammates to start the attack. Defensively Drake is good at winning the ball out of the air and tackles hard to break up opportunities.
In 2019 Drake was a National team member for the Philippines U15/U16 team and has also had multiple US Soccer ID training center invites from 2017-2019. He has been a member of the USYF Southwest Regional Futsal championship team in 2018-2021 and was invited out to the youth Futsal National ID trial in 2018-2019. His MLS Next team was Playoff Quarterfinalists in 2021-2022 year and multiple tournament finalists and champions.
He’s a good teammate communicator with a stellar work ethic and training habits. He loves the game of soccer and wants to play it as long as he can. In the classroom Drake carries a 3.8 GPA and wants to pursue a degree in the health field, possibly nursing.
