Dakota Merino is a 5’8 Sophomore Center Back who is transfering from Louisiana Tech where she was their key defender with 15 starts out of 16 games, and was selected as the Tech Defender of the Year for the team. She was also honored as the Conference USA Defender of the Week this season after scoring in back to back games and notching the game winner. Dakota has scored 3 goals as a defender at Tech, playing 1321 minutes on the season. Her freshman year she saw 478 minutes with two starts. She has a literal rocket for a shot. Can strike it from 50 yards out on set pieces and scored a nice half volley goal in the run of play outside the 18.

Dakota is great in the air with headers. She reads the game well, tackles hard, and is a brilliant distributor and leader. She talks and directs her back line. Prior to Tech, she played ECNL Club ball for a very good La Roca team. She also plays the six position.

She is looking for a more competitive program, preferably in the South, but is open to all opportunities. She has a 3.0 GPA and wants to pursue Psychology for a degree.
